Would you ever play chess without knowing the rules? Being in Norway without awareness of the cultural codes is like playing chess without knowing the rules, you might make mistakes.
“Working with Norwegians” is a course that will help you crack the hidden codes of Norwegian workplaces and social life. It explains how Norwegians think and act in different situations, both at the university, in a business setting and at home. It highlights typical scenarios in which cultural differences come to the surface, and you will learn what Norwegians expect from you.
The aim of this training is to make you more confident on how to behave in Norway and to reduce the risk of cultural misunderstandings. Typical feedback from these sessions is that misunderstandings and mistakes made in the past could have been avoided if they had participated earlier.
The course is conducted by Karin Ellis (CEO of Ellis Culture)
Welcome back everyone! Summer is almost over, and we are off to a start of a strange and exciting new semester. By now most of us are used to doing things virtually (even if we are super tired of it), and just to make sure everyone is safe (considering the recent upsurge in cases), we will be conducting this semester’s kickoff virtually.
We will start off with some friendly digital catch-up, and proceed to a competitive but still sorta’ friendly Kahoot competition, followed by Pictionary. Winners of both the games will be awarded gift cards. This event is open to PhDs, Postdocs, and temporary scientific staff at NTNU across all the three campuses! (Newly employed candidates are encouraged to join, since this is a good opportunity to build a friendly network and have a chat with their fellow employees).
When? 28th of August, 6 p.m, Norway time.
Where? Online, on Zoom platform. The link for the event is here.
Looking forward to catching up with all of you!
Date: 21st January 2020

Do you feel your life is a little bit sadder and gloomier without music? Do you have a song in your heart that you cannot sing alone?
You don’t need to be a trained singer to join our choir: we look for committed people with a good intonation, in order to build a vibrant, cozy environment for beautiful harmonies to bloom.
And you, holed up instrumentalists! Do you play piano, guitar or percussions and you want to help us? We are looking for musicians, so join our open rehearsals!
If you want to participate, please fill in this form.
Stay tuneful 😀
PS. The location might be changed. Keep on checking our posts on the facebook event for possible modifications!
