What is DION?

DION is NTNU’s interest organization for PhDs, post-docs, and temporary scientific employees. It promotes the interests of these members at NTNU by:

  1. Providing a low-threshold contact point for PhD candidates, post-docs, and temporary scientific employees on matters related to education, supervision, regulations, working environment, etc. DION answers some of the cases directly while redirecting other to the right bodies at NTNU, or to the labor unions.
  2. Representing the interest of NTNU PhD candidates, post-docs, and temporary scientific employees in local and national politics. DION provides opinions on political decisions that affects these members. DION participates in meetings with administrative bodies at NTNU, including the Research Committee (Forskningsutvalget), and the president is in contact with NTNU leadership. DION acts as an intermediary between PhD candidates, post-docs, and temporary scientific employees and NTNU central administration and the Norwegian labor unions. DION is member of the national doctoral organization SiN (Stipendiatorganisasjonene I Norge)
  3. Creating shared meeting spaces where PhD candidates, post-docs, and temporary scientific employees can meet one another and get relevant information from different sources. These events create a platform for interaction for NTNU doctoral candidates, post-docs, and temporary scientific employees.
